In Izu, your day is shaped less by the roads you ride than by where you stop. Cruise the coast or cross the passes, it all comes down to where you cut the engine. This page lays out destinations across Izu and Hakone by the rhythm of a touring day: things you can only catch first thing in the morning, 20-minute stops you can make without taking off your helmet, places worth half a day, a hot bath at the end of the ride, and places to stay that set you up for the next morning. Destinations in Izu close well before evening. Izu Wasabi Museum closes at 4 PM on weekdays, and Rinsenji Temple at 4 PM as well. Last entry at the New York Lamp Museum is 3:30 PM, day use at Mobility Park ends at 4 PM, and Bikers Paradise Minami-Hakone is open until 5 PM.
In other words, if you start looking for a place to stop after 3 PM, you usually won't make it in time. Before you decide where to have lunch, decide where you want to be at 3 PM. After that, a hot bath or your inn will take care of the rest.
The road to ride in Izu & Hakone
Izu Skyline A road running about 40.6 km from Atami Pass to the Amagi Highlands, across plateaus at around 500 m above sea level. Viewpoints look out over Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay, and Sagami Bay, and the scenery changes with the seasons—from fresh spring greenery to Mt. Fuji in winter.
Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone A road climbing about 14 km from Odawara to Daikanzan, with an elevation gain of about 1,000 m. Gentle high-speed corners lead into technical low- and mid-speed ones, and the operator’s own road maintenance keeps the surface in excellent condition. At the top, a panorama of Mt. Places worth setting an alarm for. These spots open before 8:00 in the morning, or only happen in the early hours. At Futo Teichiami on the Jogasaki Coast, the fishing boats head out before dawn. To be in Izu at that hour, the realistic plan is to stay over the night before.

You'll be back in your helmet within the hour. These stops won't throw off your riding plan, so slot one or two into your route and the day gets that much fuller.
Bikers Paradise Minamihakone
Located in Kannami along Shizuoka Prefectural Route 20 (Atami-Hakonetoge Line). It has 500 motorcycle-only parking spaces, and most visitors are riders. Pay the ¥500 per person admission and you can come and go freely all day (that day only). Plan on 30 minutes for a quick stop, or a full day to take your time. On weekends and holidays from July to September, the gates open at 7 AM.

Located in Kannami, along National Route 136. Admission is free, there's a tiered-stone wasabi field inside, and you can sample various wasabi products. Plan on 20–60 minutes (including meals and activities). It closes early—4 PM on weekdays—so on weekdays, try to arrive by 3 PM.

Located in Ogi, Ito. The facility's own highlight is its “wisteria designated as a natural monument,” and you can take photos with your motorcycle under the wisteria trellis. A stroll takes 20–30 minutes; the zazen experience takes 60–90 minutes and requires a reservation. Parking is gravel, shared with cars: 10 spaces, free. There's a tatami area, so you'll need to take your boots off.

A complex along a prefectural road in Tatari, Ito. On site are Bakery CALM, Japanese restaurant Haruka, Steakhouse AGED, a BBQ area, the Morino Oto activity building, and the Marché souvenir shop. The facility's own highlight: “Bakery CALM has won first place at a local bread festival several times in a row.” Plan on 30 minutes for a break or café stop, or about 90 minutes including a meal and shopping. The bakery opens at 7 AM, so it also works for breakfast on days you set off first thing in the morning. There's a free motorcycle parking area, but because it's steeply sloped, you can also park in the general parking lot.

These are places worth building the whole ride around. Expect to stay more than an hour. With activities and meals in the mix, it helps to plan backward from your departure time. Some require a reservation.

Odawara Ohoribata Manyo no Yu
Located in Sakaecho, Odawara, Kanagawa, this day-use hot spring facility is an easy stop on the way to or back from Izu. Open 24 hours, with free motorcycle parking while you're inside. However, the large baths are closed for cleaning from 8:30 AM to 10 AM. No outdoor shoes inside, and since it faces a one-way street, you can only turn left both to enter and to exit.

Motorcycle space is limited, so large motorcycles and groups depend on availability. A ramp to the parking lot is next to the main entrance, and there's an elevator to the facility entrance. No partner parking lots nearby.
Entry & Exit
Local residential road (one-way). It's a shopping street, so there are many pedestrians. Sign at the entrance. Because it's one-way, enter by turning left; exits are left turn only. The entrance is the same as for cars and has a steep slope. There's no mirror when exiting and visibility is poor, so always go slowly. Traffic restrictions may apply during events. Large vehicles can't park but may stop at the main entrance. Traffic tends to back up after 3 PM, and the lot tends to fill up from 4 PM to 9 PM on long weekends (except the last day). Luggage & Gear
Rental lockers are 90 cm high × 30 cm wide (some are narrower than standard). Luggage that doesn't fit can be left at the front desk while you're inside. No outdoor shoes inside—put your shoes in a shoe bag at the entrance and take them to reception. Loungewear (yukata or samue) is provided (except with some plans). Reception is on the 1st floor; the building has 6 floors, with elevators and stairs. Power outlets can be borrowed, but chargers cannot. Restrooms available.
Weather & Seasons
Please don't enter while wet from the rain, and there's no place to dry rain gear. No space to change out of rain gear and no changing room. In winter, warm up at this day-use hot spring. In summer, besides the paid restaurant, there's a tea dispenser you can use at no extra charge. Best season: midwinter, when you'll want to warm up to your core.
Photography
It's on a shopping street, so there's no space for photos with your motorcycle. No photography inside (no restrictions on photographing the exterior or posting on social media). Recommended: after the exterior lights come on.

Laforet Resort Shuzenji
Located in Ohira, Izu. The facility's own highlight: “Besides the view of Mt. Fuji, we offer guest rooms with open-air hot spring baths. The hot spring is Shuzenji Onsen.” You can see Mt. Fuji from the grounds, and in early April the cherry trees on site are in full bloom. Parking is shared with cars: 200+ spaces, free.

How long does each spot take?
Izu Wasabi Museum takes about 20–60 minutes; a stroll around Rinsenji Temple, 20–30 minutes (the zazen experience takes 60–90 minutes and requires a reservation); New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden, 1 hour; the set-net fishing experience at Jogasaki Coast Futo Teichiami Co., Ltd., 1.5 hours; Umi no Neiro, 60–240 minutes; and ATAMI BAY RESORT KORAKUEN Ocean Spa Fuua, about 5 hours. At Bikers Paradise Minamihakone, plan on 30 minutes for a quick stop or a full day to take your time; once you pay admission, you can come and go freely that day. Odawara Ohoribata Manyo no Yu is open 24 hours, so you can stay as long as you like, and day use at Mobility Park is 10 AM–4 PM. At Kanade no Mori Resort, plan on 30 minutes for a break or café stop, or about 90 minutes including a meal and shopping.
What time do places in Izu close?
Izu Wasabi Museum is open until 4 PM on weekdays and 5 PM on weekends and holidays. Rinsenji Temple is open until 4 PM, New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden until 4 PM (last admission 3:30 PM), Bikers Paradise Minamihakone until 5 PM, and day use at Mobility Park until 4 PM. Places open after dark are ATAMI BAY RESORT KORAKUEN Ocean Spa Fuua (last admission 9 PM) and Odawara Ohoribata Manyo no Yu (open 24 hours). Kanade no Mori Resort is a complex with different hours for each shop: the bakery is open 7 AM–5 PM, the souvenir shop 9 AM–6 PM, and the BBQ and steakhouse dinner until 9 PM.
Where can I park my motorcycle?
All the places we feature have parking (some use public parking lots). Motorcycle-only parking is available at Bikers Paradise Minamihakone (500 spaces), New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden (5–6 dedicated spaces), and ATAMI BAY RESORT KORAKUEN Ocean Spa Fuua (about 10 spaces). Parking shared with cars is available at Izu Wasabi Museum (20 spaces), Rinsenji Temple (10), Jogasaki Coast Futo Teichiami Co., Ltd. (10), Laforet Resort Shuzenji (200+), and Odawara Ohoribata Manyo no Yu (about 10). Mobility Park has 40 spaces. Kanade no Mori Resort has a free motorcycle area, and because it's steeply sloped, you can also park in the general lot.
Which places require a reservation?
Jogasaki Coast Futo Teichiami Co., Ltd. requires a reservation. The zazen experience at Rinsenji Temple also requires a reservation, Mobility Park requires advance booking via the app or by phone, and Laforet Resort Shuzenji requires a reservation for overnight stays. No reservation is needed at Bikers Paradise Minamihakone, Izu Wasabi Museum, New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden, or Odawara Ohoribata Manyo no Yu. ATAMI BAY RESORT KORAKUEN Ocean Spa Fuua is a day-use facility and doesn't take reservations. At Kanade no Mori Resort, dinner at Steakhouse AGED and activities at the Morino Oto activity building require a reservation, and the other restaurants also accept reservations.
Can I stop by on a rainy day?
At Bikers Paradise Minamihakone, you can come in even when wet from the rain, and there's a hanger rack at the entrance. Izu Wasabi Museum and Mobility Park also let you in when wet, and at Jogasaki Coast Futo Teichiami Co., Ltd., you can board the boat even when wet. On the other hand, Odawara Ohoribata Manyo no Yu asks guests not to enter while wet, and ATAMI BAY RESORT KORAKUEN Ocean Spa Fuua has no place to hang wet rainwear; its parking lot is tiled, so it gets slippery in the rain. Kanade no Mori Resort says it will provide a place for wet rainwear if needed.
